From USA Today Bestselling Author Beverly Jenkins comes a new novel in a mesmerizing series set in the Old West, where an arranged marriage becomes a grand passion . . .

What kind of mail-order bride greets her intended with a bullet instead of a kiss? One like Regan Carmichael—an independent spirit equally at home in denims and dresses. Shooting Dr. Colton Lee in the shoulder is an honest error, but soon Regan wonders if her entire plan to marry a man she’s never met is a mistake. Colton, who buried his heart along with his first wife, insists he only wants someone to care for his daughter. Yet Regan is drawn to the unmistakable desire in his gaze.

Regan’s far from the docile bride Colton was expecting. Still, few women would brave the wilds of Wyoming Territory for an uncertain future with a widower and his child. The thought of having a bold, forthright woman like Regan in his life—and in his arms—begins to inspire a new dream. And despite his family’s disapproval and an unseen enemy, he’ll risk all to make this match a real union of body and soul.

Beverly Jenkins, you have done it again! A solid and enjoyable read from start to finish, where readers can expect her brilliantly written signature style of interweaving lesser-known historical facts and passionate romance with memorable and sweet characters! A mail-order bride western to melt your hearts is waiting for you in these pages.

Regan Carmichael is eagerly anticipating meeting her intended and is attempting the long journey into Wyoming territory when her stagecoach suddenly gets attacked. Not one to shy away from protecting herself, she grabs her shotgun and starts firing away. In hubbub that ensues, she mistakenly shoots her intended Dr Colton Lee in the shoulder which leaves his pride shaken and Regan defiantly defending her actions. Both begin to wonder if their intended union is a good idea after all?
Colton just wants his daughter Anna to grow up with a motherly influence and has no intention of giving his heart away again, so for her sake, he is willing to give Regan another change. Anna takes to Regan immediately after their first meeting and Colt cannot deny that Regan will be good for Anna. Despite his family’s disapproval, Colt agrees to wed Regan for Anna’s sake and give this marriage a chance. Regan is not the docile wife Colt was expecting and is completely different to his first wife. The feelings Regan evokes in Colt are foreign to him and he does not know what to do with them or himself. When he finally gives in to love, he realises finally he has the family he has wanted for himself and Anna.

This is such a sweet sweet story!I love the pace Beverly Jenkins sets with her relationship development between Regan and Colton. Anna is a sweet addition to their relationship and Regan is an absolutely wonderful, brave and feisty heroine! Dr Lee doesn’t realise what hits him when she blows into his life! His surrender to her love is pleasurable to read about and there is no fluffing about the facts. I love that the characters embrace their emotions without fuss and enjoy their relationship and give us readers a chance to enjoy it with them!

Another cool twist in this story is that Regan is a coloured heiress and Colton is as poor as a church mouse! It was a nice change to see a coloured woman holding the cards of wealth in a historical western romance! Beverly Jenkins also provides homework (which I love!) at the end of this novel so that we can read more about all the major historical facts mentioned in this novel. A great story and conclusion to her Old West trilogy you won’t be disappointed with :)

*Thank-you Beverly Jenkins, Edelweiss & Avon for the ARC.
