Four young ladies enter London society with one necessary goal: they must use their feminine wit and wiles to find a husband. So they band together, and a daring husband-hunting scheme is born.
It happened at the ball...
Where beautiful but bold Lillian Bowman quickly learned that her independent American ways weren't entirely "the thing." And the most disapproving of all was insufferable, snobbish, and impossible Marcus, Lord Westcliff, London's most eligible aristocrat.
It happened in the garden...
When Marcus shockingly—and dangerously—swept her into his arms. Lillian was overcome with a consuming passion for a man she didn't even like. Time stood still; it was as if no one else existed... thank goodness they weren't caught very nearly in the act!
It happened one autumn...
Marcus was a man in charge of his own emotions, a bedrock of stability. But with Lillian, every touch was exquisite torture, every kiss an enticement for more. Yet how could he consider taking a woman so blatantly unsuitable... as his bride?

Another great read from the Wallflower Series! Marcus and Lillian are such a great match and the promise of their story in “Secrets of a Summer Night” did not disappoint! In fact, it was a fantastic read! I cannot decide if I liked this or the previous book! Both were awesome reads
Marcus Marsden, Earl of Westcliff is as rigid and austere as they come within the British aristocracy and his attraction to headstrong and crass American, Lillian Bowman, takes him by surprise, despite his distaste and misgivings regarding her ill-mannered behaviour and inelegant ways. Self-assured and always-in-control Marcus finds himself stranded within the throes of an uncontrollable passion towards Miss Bowman and doesn’t know what to do about it other than kiss her senseless each time they are near (that kissing scene in the bushes!
Miss Lillian Bowman is strong-willed, brazen and feisty with no apologies for who she is! She will never become a proper English miss and she is just fine with that. Even though Marcus is London’s most eligible bachelor, she doesn’t want to find the insufferable, stuffy aristocrat attractive or melt at his touch.
Words fly and sparks ignite within these two passionate characters but as they discover different sides of each other’s personalities, they do realise they are very similar and are falling in love, but their love doesn’t come easy and does come at a price.
What a well-told love story! I don’t know how Lisa Kleypas creates such memorable heroes. We learn more about Marcus and his softer, gentler side which is lovely and Lillian’s personality shines through in this book. Also loved the banter between Lillian and Daisy, as they are always upto some mischief and crack me up! Annabelle and Simon from the previous novel make strong appearances also and we get a glimpse of their relationship as newlyweds…they are just toooo cute! Devil in Winter is up next which I’ve heard so much about so I’m a little nervous about starting it as I don’t want my expectations to be too high and hate it!!! Loving the Wallflower series so far!
