Banned Books Week 24th September – 30th September 2017

Don’t forget it’s Banned Books Week! I’m currently reading Anne Frank’s Diary as my banned book for this week and it also helps me complete a task of the Read Harder Book Challenge! Who knew Anne Frank was banned! It’s really interesting looking into which books have been considering banworthy!

I disagree about banning a book! I mean who has the right to tell me what I can read and not read? That’s up to an individual to decide, depending on the book itself!

Pfffftttt to banning books! Go out and read what you want everyone and celebrate our right to read :)

Feel free to check out the official website Banned Books Week

  • Oh it just breaks my heart that book is a BANNED BOOK!!! STRIKE NOW hehe I remember reading that one in high school and loving it. I am really against banned books, mostly because books are for everyone to enjoy and no one has the right to tell what others should or shouldn’t read. It needs to be a personal choice right?

    • Exactly! I think it is up to the individual to determine if it’s something they might consider appropriate reading material for their individual tastes….I don’t think anyone else has the right to tell another person what they should and shouldn’t read. Banning books can create narrow minded thinking, doesn’t encourage individuality and can create isolation as well. I think reading is such a powerful tool to allow readers to connect with subject material/authors and if you start banning books that are “too different” people can feel isolated!
